The project has following two overall goals

Environmental improvement through promoting and maintaining sustainable management of forest and forest areas

Poverty alleviation of local people who are dependent for their livelihood on forest in the project area
The objectives of the project are

Conserve the existing dense forests with their biodiversity and wildlife conservation in the area.

Restore the degraded forest and augment productivity of forests.

Protect forests and forest areas from further degradation

Mitigate biotic pressure to forest and forest areas

Enhance tree cover on non forest areas

Enhance sustainable forest management system

Empower and improve the livelihood of the local people who are dependent on Forests.
In general, the objective is to restore degraded forests and improve livelihood for and empower the local people who are dependent on forests by promoting sustainable forests management including JFM plantation and community /tribal development, thereby improving environment and alleviating poverty
