Introduction

To obtain public co-operation & public participation in raising trees and increase of vegetation cover, protection of forest and increase awareness regarding environmental balance forest extension activities are very very important aspect. The Communication Division was started with the object to green the entire state with vegetation through a bridge of trust between the Forest field staff and public. Deputy Conservator of Forest (Grade-I) is the head of the office under whom Assistant Conservator of Forest (Grade-II) and Range Forest Officers (Grade-II) are serving. Communication Division is planning and executing /implementing the training programme for the nursery beneficiaries, farmers etc in collaboration with Gujarat Agricultural Extension Branch at Dantiwada, Junagadh, Anand & Navsari and experts are being called for lectures.

Various cadres of forest officers like R.F.O., A.C.F., and Dy.C.F. are also being imparted training at Forest Hostel, Gandhinagar. The services of various faculties as well as experienced field officers of the Forest Department are being utilized and also being organized field visits. Division also arranges field visits of successful plantations of the Dept. as well as farmers. P.T.C. trainees are also included in training programme and same being conducted at the college level.

In this year 2008-09 planning was done for 1660 trainees and 43 training programmes in which 100 staff personnel, 760 farmers & 800 PTC trainees will be imparted communication training.

By March-2009 end, a total number of 3721 participants were trained in 53 courses using 4179 training man days in the current financial year 2008-09.
