Kakrapar

Introduction

Forestry Training Centre at Kakrapar was started from dated 1/1/1973 which comes under Training, Research and Communication Circle, Rajpipla. Forestry Training Centre is at Kakrapar Village on riverbank of Tapi, in Mandvi Taluka of Surat District. Kakrapar is connected with Vyara, Mandi and Madhi by roads. Vyrara and Madhi Railway Station both are 20 kms away from Kakrapar.

Objects of Training Centre

To train subordinate field staff of the Forest Department, Gujarat State, Forestry Training Centre, Kakrapar imparts training to Foresters and Forest Guard categories of Staff for six months and four months respectively to fulfill the immediate requirement of trained lower subordinate staff, a separate guard training school at Dungarda in South Dangs was started from dt. 1/10/1982 and was closed on dt. 30/6/1985.

Infrastructure

Accommodation and Other Facilities The institute has big campus with separate classroom complex and hostel complex. The campus comprises of three classroom with capacity of accommodating 180 trainees. the hostel facility include 90 rooms on twin sharing basis facility with total capacity of 180 trainees, with lodging and boarding facilities.

The institute has its own mess with essential infrastructure. The mess is run by the trainees themselves on No-profit No-loss basis. In the common room of the hostel, the trainees read magazines, newspapers, watch television and radio programmes. The trainees of different batches get together to organize culture and sports meet, through the trainees association under the guidance of the instructors. In hostel, a medical facility is also available.

Course Details

Training Program

In the training centre, 3 batches consisting 40 trainees in each are trained continuously. Forest Training Centre gives training only to lower subordinate staff i.e. Forester (D.R.), Forester (I.S.), F.E.A., Project Supervisors (GSFDC), Forest Guards & Protection Asstt., Vansevak.

Trainees from other department like Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation, Gujarat State Forest Development Corporation, Forest Department of Dadra Nagar Haveli (U.T.) are deputed for training in the Forestry Training Centre, Kakrapar from time to time. On completion of successful training, Certificates are issued to the trainees.
