Introduction
Gujarat Forest Rangers College, Rajpipla was established in year 1979 to train Range Forest Officers from Gujarat and other states to meet the requirement of technical manpower in our country, due to increasing expansion of forestry sector.
Gujarat Forest Rangers College, Rajpipla is situated in Narmda District of Gujarat State at Rajpipla. It is 65 kms from Bharuch which is the nearest railway station and 100 kms from Vadodara, nearest airport. The college is a ideally located about 3 kms from Rajpipla town on Rajpipla Vadodara state High - way in a building known as "Vadia Palace" former residence of the Maharaja of Rajpipla. The college has a sprawling campus which includes residential areas, a forest rest house and hostel building.

Accommodation and Other Facilities
The college has a sprawling campus, spread in a area of 14 ha. The campus which includes residential colony, comprising of more than 70 buildings, for different cadres, a 5 suite forest rest house with capacity of 10 persons, 60 single room capacity hostel building,, sports ground, basketball court, Volleyball court, tennis court etc.

Mode of Selection
Based on performance of competitive examination followed by interview and finally physical endurance test-(25 km walking test), the selection of candidates is done by the Public Service Commission of the sponsoring state government and allotment of seats in made by Director of Forest Education, Dehradun. The present intake capacity of this college is of 40 seats out of which 24 seats are remarked for Gujarat State candidates and remaining 16 seats is allotment is made to various sponsoring states. However, if Gujarat State can not utilize the allotted 24 seats, the Director, Forest Education, Dehradun can allot the same to other sponsoring state.
The first batch of trainees recruited to this college was in April'1979 and was of 2 years training period and subsequent batched were recruited for one year training period. However, Government of India has decided to switch over to two years period from the year 1991. So far 485 Range Forest Officers have undergone training in this institute. Course Details
The curriculum of the college is intensive. The trainees are kept busy from morning to evening. There is a proverbial saying "Healthy mind is Healthy body" and this is reflected in the training imparted to the trainees. The day begins with physical Training and parade in the early hours followed by intensive lecture session in the afternoon and the day ends with Games in the evening.
The syllabus, examination pattern and other activities are same as in other Ranger's colleges in India.

Extra Curricular Activities
A host of extra curricular activities such as debating, quiz, photography etc is organized under Gujarat Forest Rangers College, Association. This helps in bringing out the hidden talents amongst the budding officer trainees.
Other Courses
Sometimes due to administrative delay, it is not possible to run the college and this period is utilized for conducting Refresher Courses of short duration for In-Service Range Forest Officers, Forester/F.E.A., Accountant & Clerk with a view to familiarize them with the latest development and issues rated to forestry, so as to update their knowledge. Recently the college has started a special JFM training program, customized to meet the need of JFM committee members and for the staff. this is in accordance with the decision and training strategy decided in the state level JFM steering group.
